English Glossary

Unit 1
Easy-going: Living without undue worry or concern; calm.
Dishonest: Disposed to lie, cheat, defraud, or deceive.
Well- behaved: Someone who behaves in a manner that the speaker believes is correct; "a well-behaved child".
Direct: Straight; in a straight line.
Unfair: Contrary to justice or a sense of fairness.
Compulsory: Obligatory; required.
Indirect : Not immediate or straight.
Change: To cause to be different.
Unacceptable: Not acceptable; unsatisfactory.
Fair: Of pleasing appearance, especially because of a pure or fresh quality; comely.
Unfamiliar: Not being acquainted; not conversant.
Strict: Rigorous in the imposition of discipline.
Acceptable: Adequate to satisfy a need, requirement, or standard; satisfactory.
Rare: Infrequently occurring; uncommon.
Voluntary: Done or undertaken of one's own free will.
Common: Belonging equally to or shared equally by two or more; joint
Badly-behaved.
Honest: Marked by or displaying integrity; upright.
Familiar: Often encountered or seen.

Geography Glossary

Unit 2
Beeches:
A large tree with smooth grey bark, glossy leaves, and hard, pale fine-grained timber.
Thickets:
A dense group of bushes or trees
Taiga:
The swampy coniferous forest of high northern latitudes, especially that between the tundra and steppes of Siberia
Meadows:
A piece of grassland, especially one used for hay
Tundra:
A vast, flat, treeless Arctic region of Europe, Asia, and North America in which the subsoil is permanently frozen
Shrubs:
A woody plant which is smaller than a tree and has several main stems arising at or near the ground.

  • What did I do in English outside the class? I may listening music or videos in english.
  • What do I need to improve? All the units.
  •  What did I learn about culture? About the ttibes of Australia and New Zeland, and the storytelling of ireland.
I think that I have not progressed since this course, I started with bad foot. My notes are lower than usual. Although I'm now better off asking questions. This second quarter I will have to put the batteries.
